GWPC-EXC Generator Excitation Control Panel

GWPC-EXC Generator Excitation Control Panel

Desc
  • The GWPC-EXC Generator Excitation Control Panel is an essential control component of excitation systems for synchronous generators with ratings up to 300 MW. It continuously measures generator-terminal voltage, stator current, frequency, reactive power, power factor, and other operating quantities, and regulates the DC output of the thyristor rectifier accordingly. The controlled excitation output maintains the generator-terminal voltage at the required level and enables the generating unit to meet its reactive power control requirements during grid-connected operation.
  • The GWPC-EXC provides automatic voltage regulation, manual field current control, operating limiters, logic control, fault monitoring, HMI, and communication functions. Depending on the generator rating, excitation method, and project requirements, the power rectifier, field-flashing unit, de-excitation unit, and excitation transformer may be supplied as integrated assemblies or as separate panels and equipment.
  • The panel is widely used in hydropower plants, thermal power plants, industrial captive power plants, biomass power plants, waste-heat power generation facilities, and other facilities that operate synchronous generators. It plays an important role in ensuring the safe, stable, and efficient operation of the generator.

  • The GWPC‑SYN Generator Synchronizing Panel is designed for the automatic synchronization and grid connection of synchronous generators in hydroelectric, thermal and other power plants. It is typically installed in the central control room alongside the GWPC300‑GP Generator Protection Panel, GWPC‑LCU‑G Unit LCU Panel and GWPC‑EXC Excitation Control Panel.

The panel supports integration with plant SCADA and automation systems for telemetry, telesignalling and telecontrol. Depending on the project configuration, it supports:

  • RS-485/Modbus RTU
  • Ethernet/IEC 60870-5-104
  • Optional IEC 61850
  • 4–20 mA analog inputs/outputs
  • Generator start/stop and synchronizing-point selection
  • Voltage, frequency-difference and synchronizing-parameter monitoring

Interfaces, protocols and signal configurations can be customized to meet project requirements
