GWPC300‑LP Line Protection & Control Panel
Product Desc
- The GWPC300‑LP Line Protection & Control Panel is a complete bay‑level solution developed by GoWatron for medium‑voltage power systems up to 33 kV. The panel is equipped with the GWPR320‑LD Line Fiber‑optic Differential Protection Relay, the GWPR320‑DIS Line Distance Protection Relay, and the GWPR320‑BCU Bay Control Unit. Fiber‑optic pilot differential protection and distance protection are implemented on two physically independent protection relays, adopting a separate‑hardware main‑plus‑backup protection architecture that integrates line protection with bay‑level measurement and control functions.
- Designed in compliance with IEC, ANSI, IEEE and other international standards, protection trip logic runs locally within the protection devices and is independent of the station‑level communication network. Even if the supervisory communication link is interrupted, the protection devices can still perform fault discrimination and trip output autonomously. The panel supports IEC 61850, IEC 60870‑5‑104, and DNP3.0 communication protocols for seamless integration with SCADA and substation automation systems. It is applicable to utility substations, industrial substations, renewable‑energy step‑up stations, and overseas power projects.
- Panel dimensions: 2260 × 800 × 600 mm (H × W × D).

Panel Component & Function List
- Note: The standard configuration excludes a voltage paralleling unit, a standalone annunciator window, and a dedicated in‑panel time‑synchronization module. The protection and control units are equipped with built‑in PTP / IRIG‑B time‑synchronization interfaces for direct connection to the station‑wide time‑synchronization system. These items can be supplied as options upon project‑specific requirements.
| Item | ModelFunction | Description |
| Line Fiber‑optic Differential Protection Relay | GWPR320‑LD | Main line pilot differential protection for fast detection and clearing of internal phase‑to‑phase and earth faults. Integrated backup overcurrent and earth‑fault protection; supports fault recording, event logging, and a dedicated fiber‑optic differential communication interface. |
| Line Distance Protection Relay | GWPR320‑DIS | Distance Zone Ⅰ/Ⅱ/Ⅲ protection covering phase‑to‑phase and earth faults. Supports auto‑reclosing and circuit‑breaker failure initiation contact output. Complete breaker failure protection logic requires coordination with busbar protection devices. Multi‑stage graded backup protection is provided; actual protection coverage and operating time shall be determined by the system protection coordination scheme and setting parameters. |
| Bay Control Unit | GWPR320‑BCU | Acquires bay‑level voltage, current and other analog quantities for remote measurement upload. Collects status of circuit‑breakers, disconnectors, protection functional switches, and other binary signals for remote indication. Supports remote trip/close commands; uploads measured data, status, alarms, and event information to the station‑level host. |
| AC/DC power supply, MCBs, surge‑protection & filtering assembly | — | Supplies reliable power for secondary circuits and on‑panel devices, provides overload and short‑circuit protection as well as secondary‑circuit surge suppression. |
| Standard industrial panel (2260×800×600 mm), terminal blocks, protection function enable/disable circuits | — | Provides standardized mechanical mounting and secondary‑wiring interfaces for protection function enable/disable. Terminals are arranged for CT/PT, AC/DC power, binary signals, and communication connections. |
- Configuration Note: This panel features physically separated main and backup protection architecture. Fiber‑optic pilot differential serves as the main protection, while distance, overcurrent, and earth‑fault functions constitute the backup protection system, executed respectively by the independent GWPR320‑LD and GWPR320‑DIS relay. Protection and bay‑control units come with built‑in PTP / IRIG‑B interfaces; no dedicated in‑panel time‑sync hardware is required, and direct connection to the station‑wide time‑synchronization network is available.
Product Functions
Protection Functions
Main Protection (GWPR320‑LD)
- Adopts the fiber‑optic pilot differential principle to rapidly detect and clear internal line faults, including phase‑to‑phase and earth faults.
Local & Remote Backup Protection (GWPR320‑DIS)
- Provides multi‑zone distance protection, time‑graded overcurrent protection, and earth‑fault protection for phase‑to‑phase and earth‑fault scenarios. Multi‑stage graded backup protection is implemented.
Auxiliary Protection Logic (GWPR320‑DIS)
- Supports auto‑reclosing and circuit‑breaker failure initiation contact output. Complete breaker failure protection logic requires coordination with busbar protection devices. The actual function setup shall follow project protection specifications.
Important Note: In this configuration, fiber‑optic pilot differential is defined as the main line protection. Distance, overcurrent, and earth‑fault functions form the backup protection system. Despite its fast operating characteristic, Distance Zone Ⅰ functions as backup protection only and shall not be treated as the main protection for this application. Protection coverage and operating time are determined by the system protection coordination scheme and device setting parameters.
Measurement & Control Functions (GWPR320‑BCU)
- Acquires bay‑level voltage, current and other analog quantities for remote measurement and operational data upload.
- Monitors the status of circuit‑breakers, disconnectors, protection functional switches, and other binary inputs for remote status indication.
- Supports remote circuit‑breaker trip/close operations. Breaker control interlock logic is available and configurable per project requirements.
Recording & Alarm
- Supports fault recording, Sequence‑of‑Events (SOE) logging, and protection operation records for fault review and post‑incident analysis.
- Provides hard‑wired local alarm contact output. Alarms, protection operations, and operational events can be transmitted to the supervisory host via the station‑level communication network.
Communication & Time Synchronization
- Supports IEC 61850, IEC 60870‑5‑104, IEC 60870‑5‑103 and DNP3.0 standard protocols for data exchange with SCADA, substation automation, and station‑level equipment.
- Protection and control hardware integrate built‑in PTP and IRIG‑B time‑sync interfaces to achieve unified time alignment for protection, measurement‑control, and event logging via the station‑wide time‑synchronization system.
- No standalone time‑synchronization device is required inside the panel. This reduces on‑panel equipment count and secondary‑wiring complexity while simplifying overall system architecture.
Application Scenarios
- Utility Substations;Suitable for 33 kV, 11 kV, and 10 kV medium‑voltage line and feeder bays. Provides fiber‑optic differential main protection plus distance, overcurrent, and earth‑fault backup protection for critical transmission and distribution lines.
