Product Desc

The GWPR300-TI Transformer Integrated Protection Relay is designed primarily for transformers of 132kV, 66kV, 33kV and 11kV voltage classes with a rated capacity of 10,000 kVA or less.

It incorporates all functions of one GWPR300-TD Transformer Differential Protection Relay plus all functions of one GWPR300-THB Transformer Backup Protection Relay. Integrating main and backup protection into a single device, it delivers the full capabilities of two separate relays in one unit.

  • Interfaces: 2 × Ethernet, 2 × RS485 (the second RS485 port is shared with the time sync port, selectable via configuration).
  • Protocols: IEC 103, IEC 104, Modbus RTU; IEC 61850 (optional).
  • Time Synchronization: SNTP, IRIG-B, and message-based time sync.
  • Printing: Supports serial dot-matrix printers for output of setting parameters, event logs, and fault waveform records.

Product Overview

The GWPR300-TI Transformer Integrated Protection Relay offers a compact, intelligent protection solution for modern power grids. Transformers require protection relays with fast response, selectivity and high reliability. Conventional schemes using independent main and backup protection relays result in complicated wiring, larger cabinet footprint and inefficient data exchange.

In compliance with GB/T 14285-2006 and DL/T 478-2013, this relay features a multi-core heterogeneous DSP+ARM platform. All electrical protection functions, non-electrical signal interfaces, high-precision measurement and control logic are integrated within one single relay.

Its design follows the philosophy of “function integration, resource sharing and coordinated defense”:

  • Main protection unit: Detects internal transformer faults within milliseconds via percentage differential protection
  • Backup protection unit: Handles external short-circuits, ground faults and abnormal operating conditions, including compound voltage-restrained overcurrent and zero-sequence protection
  • Non-electrical management unit: Initiates direct trip outputs for Buchholz gas, overtemperature and other non-electrical condition signals

  • (ANSI 87T) Percentage Differential Protection (Trip)
  • (ANSI 87T) CT Circuit Open / CT Saturation Alarm (Instantaneous signal, time-delayed alarm)
  • (ANSI 87T) Differential Overcurrent Alarm (Alarm)
  • (ANSI 50) Stage 1 Overcurrent Protection (Trip, with compound voltage restraint)
  • (ANSI 51) Stage 2 Overcurrent Protection (Trip, with compound voltage restraint)
  • (ANSI 51) Stage 3 Overcurrent Protection (Trip, with compound voltage restraint)
  • (ANSI 51) Inverse-Time Overcurrent Protection (Trip; Normal/Very/Extremely Inverse selectable)
  • (ANSI 49) Overload Protection (Alarm / Trip selectable)
  • (ANSI 46) Stage 1 Negative-Sequence Overcurrent Protection (Trip)
  • (ANSI 46) Stage 2 Negative-Sequence Overcurrent Protection (Alarm / Trip selectable)

  • (ANSI 95) Control Circuit Disconnection Alarm (Alarm)
  • (ANSI 27) System Power Loss / Supply Loss Detection (Alarm / Trip selectable)
  • (ANSI 63) Transformer Non-Electrical Protection (Alarm / Trip selectable)
  • (ANSI 63) Light Buchholz / Gas Detection (Alarm)
  • (ANSI 63) Heavy Buchholz / Gas Detection (Trip)
  • (ANSI 38) Winding Temperature Rise (Alarm)
  • (ANSI 38) Excessive Winding Temperature (Trip)
  • (ANSI 63) Pressure Relief / Sudden Pressure Protection (Alarm / Trip selectable)

Typical Application Scenarios

  • Industrial Enterprise Self-Owned Substations – 11~132kV main transformers for metallurgy, mining, chemical, papermaking and heavy manufacturing plants; compact cabinet space requires fewer protection panels. The GWPR300-TI integrates main and backup protection in a single relay, significantly reducing panel occupancy.
  • Urban Distribution Zone Substations – 11kV/33kV distribution main transformers for suburban and industrial park substations, simplifying secondary wiring and lowering construction & maintenance costs. The GWPR300-TI streamlines system design by replacing two separate relays with one compact relay.
  • Renewable Energy Step-Up Substations – 33kV/11kV main transformers at small & medium PV and wind booster stations. This all-in-one GWPR300-TI relay delivers full differential, backup and non-electrical protection, and meets intelligent remote communication demands.
  • Special Substations for Hydropower & Rail Transit – Main transformers serving hydropower plants, high-speed rail stations and tunnel power supply. Limited installation space calls for integrated main & backup protection with ultra-fast fault identification – exactly what the GWPR300-TI offers.
  • Overseas Small Mining & Oil/Gas Field Substations – Remote outdoor 33kV / 11kV substations abroad. The high hardware integration of the GWPR300-TI reduces the types of required spare parts and simplifies spare parts logistics.
