1. Product Overview
- The GWPR300-VTS is a busbar VT/PT supervision relay designed for 132 kV, 66 kV, and 33 kV systems. It monitors VT secondary voltages to provide busbar voltage supervision, abnormal condition alarms, and measurement functions. The relay incorporates a high-performance 32-bit microcontroller with DSP and FPU capabilities, high-precision sampling, modular protection functions, comprehensive communication interfaces, and an intuitive user interface.
- The relay features a one-piece front panel and a fully enclosed case, with separation between power and signal circuits. Hardware and software measures improve immunity to electromagnetic interference, and its electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) performance meets the applicable requirements specified in the product manual. Flexible hardware configuration and a high-speed internal bus facilitate expansion and maintenance. The relay supports busbar VT protection, monitoring, and control and can be integrated into substation automation systems.
2. Product Functions
Protection Functions
- (ANSI 59) Overvoltage Alarm: Issues an alarm when any line to line voltage remains at or above the pickup setting for the configured time delay
- (ANSI 27) Undervoltage Alarm: Issues an alarm when all three line to line voltages remain below the pickup setting for the configured time delay
- (ANSI 59N) Residual Overvoltage Alarm: Uses either calculated residual voltage, designated 3U0z and derived from the three phase voltages, or directly measured residual voltage, designated 3U0 and supplied through the dedicated residual voltage input; issues an alarm when the selected voltage remains at or above the pickup setting for the configured time delay
- VT Secondary Circuit Failure Alarm: Detects abnormal VT secondary circuit conditions using positive sequence voltage, negative sequence voltage, and the service position binary input, and issues an alarm after the configured time delay
Measurement and Control Functions
- Voltage measurement: Ua, Ub, Uc, Uab, Ubc, Uca, 3U0, and 3U0z
- Frequency measurement: f
- 21 externally energised binary inputs, available for AC/DC 220 V, DC 110 V, or DC 48 V; the required input voltage must be specified when ordering
- 13 relay outputs comprising 10 outputs actuated by protection functions and three signalling outputs, plus one separate output indicating loss of the relay’s auxiliary power supply
Recording and Printing
- Records protection events, alarms, binary input status changes, operator actions, self diagnostic events, and disturbance waveforms
- Supports a dot matrix printer connected via a serial port for printing settings, event records, and disturbance records
- Stores up to 32 disturbance records, each containing 10 cycles of waveform data: four pre fault cycles and six post fault cycles
User Interface
- Hierarchical menus for intuitive operation
- Status indicators for power, operation, alarms, internal faults, test position, and service position
- Supports local commissioning, relay output testing, measurement and status transmission testing, event simulation, and system reset
3. Applications
- Busbar VT protection, monitoring, and control in 132 kV, 66 kV, and 33 kV substations
- Protection, measurement, and status supervision in busbar VT panels and switchgear VT compartments
- Installations requiring overvoltage, undervoltage, residual overvoltage, and VT secondary circuit failure alarms
- Substation busbar voltage monitoring and operating status supervision
- Detection and annunciation of VT secondary circuit abnormalities
- VT panels requiring local display, keypad operation, and alarm outputs
- Busbar VT protection, monitoring, and control in renewable energy step up substations
- Busbar voltage supervision and alarms in industrial and mining power distribution systems
- Busbar voltage supervision in railway power supply substations where the three phase VT secondary connections match the relay’s input configuration
