GWPR300‑FS Fault Separation Relay

Functions(ANSI) 59N 27 59 81U 81O 78 60 95
Product Desc
  • The GoWatron GWPR300‑FS Fault Separation Relay is designed for fault separation on the load‑side or small‑generation‑side applications for 132 kV, 33 kV and 10 kV (or 11 kV) voltage levels. It is widely deployed in hydropower plants, thermal power plants and gas‑fired power plants. Upon occurrence of faults such as over‑/under‑frequency and over‑/under‑voltage, the relay trips the generator circuit breaker to isolate the local plant from the utility grid and reliably disconnects faulty power sources, maintaining safe and stable operation of the power system.
  • Dual Ethernet ports supporting IEC 60870‑5‑104/103; IEC 61850 available as option;
  • RS485 interface for Modbus‑RTU. Supports IRIG‑B, SNTP and message‑based time‑sync modes.

Product Description

  • The GWPR300‑FS Fault Separation Relay adopts a 32‑bit high‑performance microcontroller with DSP floating‑point processing unit and 16‑bit high‑precision independent AD sampling. It adopts a dual hardware‑software anti‑interference design and supports both panel‑mounted cabinet installation and direct switchgear mounting.
  • The unit adopts a fully‑enclosed enclosure with strict separation between strong‑current and weak‑current circuits. Its modular hardware design facilitates expansion and maintenance. Real‑time calculation for all analog and binary‑input signals is completed within each sampling cycle. A sampling bad‑point filtering algorithm is implemented to improve anti‑interference performance for AC signal acquisition.
  • The device offers a friendly human‑machine interface along with on‑site local debugging functions. Comprehensive event‑logging and fault‑recording capabilities are available. The device meets relevant power‑industry standards for EMC, insulation and mechanical performance, and operates stably over a wide temperature range of ‑40 °C to 70 °C. CT/PT ratings and binary‑input supply voltage can be customized upon project request to satisfy various site requirements.

Product Functions

 Protection Functions

  • (ANSI 59N) Neutral‑Overvoltage Separation Stage I / II (Trip)
  •  (ANSI 27) Under‑Voltage Separation Stage I / II / III (Trip)
  • (ANSI 59) Over‑Voltage Separation Stage I / II / III (Trip)
  • (ANSI 81U) Under‑Frequency Separation Stage I / II / III / IV / V (Trip)
  • (ANSI 81O) Over‑Frequency Separation Stage I / II / III (Trip)
  • (ANSI 78) Out‑of‑Step Separation Stage I / II (Trip)
  • (ANSI 60) PT Circuit Failure (Alarm)
  •  (ANSI 95) External Trip Input 1 / 2 (Trip / Alarm)

Other Functions

  • Measurement & Control Functions: Collects three‑phase voltages, residual zero‑sequence voltage, three‑phase currents, active/reactive power, power factor and four‑quadrant energy; supports 21 active binary inputs, 13 independent relay trip outputs plus 1 device‑power‑loss signal output. Measurement accuracy reaches Class 0.2.
  • Event‑Logging & Printing: Classified storage for protection events, alarm events, binary‑input status changes, operation logs and self‑test events. Up to 32 fault‑recording records can be stored. Serial‑port printer support for printing settings, event logs and fault records.
  • Local Debugging: Supports output‑relay test, communication‑loop test, event simulation and system reset to facilitate on‑site commissioning and verification.

Application Scenarios

  • Hydropower plants, thermal power plants, gas‑fired power plants: Installed at the generator grid‑connection side. Rapidly separates generators under fault conditions to prevent islanding and secure main‑grid safety.
  • Distribution substations and switchgears: Applied on the load‑side of 10 kV (or 11 kV), 33 kV, 132 kV systems for load separation upon voltage deviation, frequency deviation and out‑of‑step oscillation faults.
  • Distributed‑generation grid‑connection switchgears: Direct‑mounted inside switch cabinets for local fault‑separation protection for distributed power sources.
  • Protection panels for small‑generation stations: Cabinet‑mounted for grid‑connection fault‑separation protection within power‑plant and distributed‑generation facilities.
  •  Distributed‑power‑supply stations with island‑risk concerns: Provides anti‑islanding protection to mitigate equipment and grid hazards caused by voltage loss, frequency drift and system oscillation.
